XP Programs are Not Available After Upgrading to Vista

If you upgrade your HP-certified Vista Capable PC from XP to Vista, you may want to consider where you can find the XP programs that you like to use. Some helpful programs, including CD playing and burning software, or Norton anti-virus, were pre-installed on the hard drive when you purchased the PC. These programs were specifically designed and licensed to operate on an XP-licensed PC. When you upgrade from XP to Vista, these programs are removed from the hard drive. The individual programs are not available for download from the HP web site.
Some software companies may provide a Vista specific version of their programs on their web sites. Some companies may offer their program for free to registered users while other companies may require you to pay to purchase a Vista version of the program. Other companies may not make a Vista version of their software. HP has no control over how the companies distribute the programs.
If you will want to continue using particular programs, you should visit the software manufacturers' web sites to look for information on upgrading the program, before you upgrade the operating system.
If you have already upgraded from XP to Vista using the HP Vista Upgrade Utility, you can use your Recovery discs to return the PC to the XP operating system and continue using your favorite XP programs.
