HP Protectsmart Hard drive protection


All the new Notebook series which are going to be released in 2c08 and preinstalled with the HP Protectsmart Hard drive protection Software.

What is HP HP Protectsmart Hard drive protection about:

HP Protectsmart Hard drive protection protects the hard drive by parking the hard drive and halting I/O requests when one of the following event occurs:

Computer is dropped/falls
Computer is stuck by another object
Computer is moved with display closed when running on battery

Only Internal HDDs( including multi bay drives) are protected by this feature.

How to enable HP Protectsmart Hard drive protection:

1. Open the Windows Vista Control Panel






















The Windows Vista Control Panel allows you to configure a wide variety of computer settings. To open it, click on the Control Panel link in theWindows Vista Start Menu.


2. In the classic view of control panel, click on ProtectSmart Hard Drive.













3. Click on General Tab. Under settings, enable ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection.











4. Click apply and then ok.

The drive light on the computer changes to amber to indicate that the drive is parked. For immediate notification on change in status , enable notification area icon

How to enable the Notification Area Icon:

1. Open the Windows Vista Control Panel.
2. In the classic view of control panel, click on ProtectSmart Hard Drive.
3. Click on General Tab. In settings, Click visible next to icon in system tray.
4. Click apply and then ok.
